About This Program
Our Small Group Adaptive Fitness classes bring together 6-8 individuals with diverse abilities in a supportive, fun environment. Each session features customized exercises and modified routines led by trained professionals who understand the unique needs of participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The group setting fosters socialization, peer bonding, and community inclusion while building physical fitness, confidence, and independence.
Structured Yet Flexible
Group classes at Champions are structured but never rigid. Each session follows a consistent format — warm-up, skill work, conditioning, and cool-down — so participants know what to expect, which is especially important for individuals who thrive on routine. Within that structure, exercises are modified for each participant based on their abilities. One person might be doing assisted squats while another does weighted goblet squats, all in the same class with the same energy and encouragement.
Building Social Connections
The social component of group fitness is just as important as the physical training. Many of our participants have limited opportunities for peer interaction outside of school or day programs. Our group classes create a space where they can build friendships, practice communication, and experience the camaraderie of working toward shared goals. We regularly hear from parents that their child talks about class all week and looks forward to seeing their group friends.
Safety & Individual Attention
Our trainers maintain a low participant-to-trainer ratio to ensure everyone receives individual attention and support. Safety is always the priority — trainers are trained in adaptive exercise modification, de-escalation, and emergency response. The studio environment is private and sensory-considerate, eliminating the overstimulation that can make traditional gym settings difficult for our population.
